Any server admin would know that a network share is the obvious first choice. Remote desktop is not the proper solution either. Now, after this I want different users to access this partition and the folders in it, to add files, read files from the folders, download them etc, but I want to be able to grant the right permissions to the right users. The OP admits to being a beginner and does not understand that you cannot create users using the Filezilla client over FTP. I want to use FileZilla Client to communicate with this server, so that I can create users, configure their permissions to read and write to a server location. Take courses at a local college or go though the online courses. If you're asking yourself "what is this guy talking about?" then you really need to get a lot of education before you do anything else. A beginner, as you describe yourself, should NOT be tasked with configuringĪre you using Active Directory? Do you know how to create AD and local groups? Do you understand how file security inheritance works? Will you be using Access Based Enumeration for security? What about shadow copies? What is your backup and disaster recovery If you don't know that the correct solution is to set up a network share, then you really need to get someone to help you because you are going to get yourself into trouble very quickly.
